fall favorites…

With the temps in North Texas slowly but surely on the decline, I’m getting so excited for my favorite time of year: FALL!! Seriously, starting September 1st, I can’t help but break out all the fall décor and gear up for cooler weather. Even though temps are still in the high 80s to low 90s, I couldn’t help but start wearing boots this week. I feel like I survive summers because fall and all its glory is the light at the end of a very long, hot tunnel. And once September hits, I count down the days to Christmas. I know, how could I possibly be talking about Christmas and it’s barely mid-September but it’s my favorite holiday! I can’t help it! Kid you not, my house is like the Griswolds come mid-November. My loving husband just rolls his eyes and humors me in my holiday antics. But back to fall. It’s just amazing. I can’t get enough of it all! This time of year holds so many memories for me. From hilarious Halloween costumes to huge family Thanksgivings and Christmases, there’s just something about the love, joy, and spirit that leads up to the best day of the year!! Leaves changing colors, pumpkin patches, cozy autumn outfits, and pumpkin spice everything! The list of all the reasons I love fall just could go on and on… So I decided to round up my list of fall favorites in honor of the first day of fall, which is only 2 days away!

Favorite Fall Beverage:
For the longest time, hot chocolate was my jam when fall showed up but Starbucks won me over with the Caramel Apple Spice. I had a friend that got it once and let me have a sip. Let me tell you, it was love at first sip! Aside from anything pumpkin spice flavored, this drink is what I imagine fall would taste like if you could put it in drink form. You just can’t go wrong with it. I found this recipe for a copycat of the Starbucks Caramel Apple Spice that I’m dying to try. So ready for it to be cool enough to smuggle up on our balcony with a glass of this, a cozy blanket and a good book.

Favorite Fall Dish:
There’s nothing I love to eat more during the cooler months than soup! It’s one of those cozy, feel good dishes. Also, I can’t complain about the clean up since all my soup recipes are a one-pot dish. What’s better than that?! One of the best parts about soup is that you can really make a soup out of anything and everything. They are so easy to personalize and you’d never know you omitted or substituted something in the recipe because all the flavors just marry together and no one would be the wiser. I have five soups that are at the top of my list to try this fall:

  1. Lasagna Soup
  2. Stuffed Pepper Soup
  3. Broccoli Cheddar Soup
  4. Slow Cooker Chicken Noodle Soup
  5. Crock Pot Minestrone Soup

Favorite Fall Snack:
Fall wouldn’t be the same without pumpkins. Really, they are the crowning glory of fall. Pumpkin spice creeps its way into everything and there’s no escaping it, which I’m one of those people that’s perfectly okay with that. I’ll try pumpkin spice anything. Last year, Pepperidge Farm came out with Pumpkin Spice Milano cookies and they were just heavenly. But one thing I love most about pumpkins is how delicious their seeds are when you toast them in the oven after carving pumpkins for Halloween. It’s one of my favorite traditions from when I was a kid. I found 10 Pumpkin Seed Recipes that I want to try when we carve pumpkins this year! I’m thinking maybe do one sweet and one savory recipe.

Favorite Fall Dessert:
With Thanksgiving quickly on it’s way, I can’t help but think about my favorite fall dessert: Pumpkin Pie! It’s a classic but a must have! I’m attempting to make my very first Thanksgiving dinner all by myself at my parents’ house this year and there will definitely be making a homemade pumpkin pie making an appearance on the menu. But you don’t have to wait till Thanksgiving to indulge in a little pumpkin goodness. Here are my top five pumpkin recipes I’m dying to try this fall:

  1. Pumpkin Pie Panna Cotta Tart
  2. No Bake Mini Pumpkin Cheesecakes
  3. Brown Butter Pumpkin Cupcakes with Salted Caramel Frosting
  4. Fudgy Pumpkin Bars with Vanilla Bean Browned Butter Glaze
  5. Pumpkin Snickerdoodles

I’m so excited for fall! This Friday, our friends are hosting their third annual Apple Party and I have a few ideas in mind for my apple treat to take to their party. Aside from the pumpkin, apple is another signature fall flavor, as I mentioned my love for the Caramel Apple Spice. I’ve been in school the last couple of years they had it so I wasn’t able to attend so this year I’m over the moon that I get to attend. They have a caramel apple bar- so cool! The fact that I get to stretch my culinary muscles with apple treats is such a fun bonus! Subscribe to see what I make and more fall inspirations!

Happy Fall Y’all!!
